About Rachael Kinmond
For Rachael, creating artworks, constantly thinking and reflecting about her everchanging contemporary practice is inherent in her creative journey and day to day life.. Her theoretical research throughout her BA Contemporary Crafts and her Masters in Fine Art showcases contemporary ideologies expressed through process and materiality, honoring key research and drawing upon shaping her own ideologies and practice. She critically responds to contemporary themes throughout her work.

Rachael has used many mediums, she specialized in glass casting during her BA in Contemporary Crafts, she has also worked with wood, metal plastics and ceramics. She specialized in glass during her BA and experimented with glass blowing, printmaking, drawing and creating digital prints during her MA. Her works during her MA surrounded themes of consumerism and highlighting the 'nature of desire' to consume existing in a materialistic existential world, exploring exploiting marketing and pushing against social and economic norms.

Rachael has worked with a number of outside agencies and stakeholders to create collaborative projects and exhibitions, please see CV for more details.

Rachaels' current practice embodies abstracting landscapes and forms within the Cornish landscape, she is exploring painting and mixed media work. Rachaels painting are 'in the moment', some show finger marks and raw canvas edge. She exploits this method of 'happening', proudly showcases her exploration and experiential making through these perfect imperfections. Besides, if you wanted mass produced Art you wouldn't be reading this - right?

Contact Rachael for queries about her works, there is nothing more that she enjoys than creating conversation and making connections through the arts!
